Botanica is a humanist slab-serif typeface, inspired by the oxymoron—gentle yet powerful, evoking a timeless elegance that balances softness with strength.The typeface encapsulates flowers, and makes one think of typewriters, late nineteenth-century American literature, poetry, grace, and feminine strength.



The typeface is best used for display type and is inspired by the Old Style of type. The letterforms have a calligraphic feel, and the slab serifs give them a modern twist.

The editorial design experiments with the scale of the type allowing for bold compositions and for the newspaper to duel as posters. The packaging designs emphasize the type and have supporting hand-drawn illustrations to further visual interest.
